Good shows/movies throughout the years.

* Note: I was bored. Nothing else to post.

My Wife and Kids. Used to stay up and watch this all the time. Back in Form 2, I think.

Another comedy, lol.

Who can forget Titanic ? 1997 made a good movie.

The Other Boleyn Girl. I think it's not supposed to be out yet? *shrug* It's good anyway. Relates to the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn (yes, the lady that King Henry married, and yes, the one in sejarah )

OMG. Sejarah. Exam's on Thursday.

This is pretty good too, watched it a few times. LoL

Saras - You don't be sorry, sweetie! Don't be, coz I had so much fun playing the other day, LoL.

Tabby - Economical crisis? True. But then again, economical crisis won't take much priority if you have a mane of hair that sits as if it's ready to be launched into space. Or, the way it stands, rather.

Chad - LoL. Thanks!

TJ - Holidays rule! Perfect time to be bored. XD

Happy Merdeka!

LoL, this is going to be a quick one before dinner. XD

No worries, bloggers! I have managed to retrieve my Further Under The Duvet book by Marian Keyes. Apparently, it's been with my aunt all along. =P

I cut my hair shorter! Not short short , just shorter. But what frustrates me the most is that no one seems to notice! My dad went, 'Oh, it looks the same lah.' even though it's at least two inches shorter. Two inches!

Gah.

Anyway, there's quite a bit to talk about here and I'm already lacking time (aka, too lazy to continue). First of all, Mrs Amy retired on Friday, meaning that our school is currently principal-less. She gave a really nice speech the other day, which gave me quite a bit of inspiration - 'everyone has to work hard'. Okay, okay, so it's not that uncommon a quote, but it got me thinking that no one has it easy, and there's no need to whine over the absolute torture of studying just because I'm forced to glue my bottom to the chair for an entire day.

Right. Moving on.

Happy Merdeka!

So anyway, what have y'all been doing for Merdeka? Oh, wait. Stupid question. I may not have eyes behind the back of my brain, but somehow, there's this teeny, weeny, itsy, bitsy part of me that says you've either been sleeping/eating/lazying/online-ing/messaging/studying/doing absolute crap - none of which includes any of you waving the dear flag.

*shrug*

I'm not too bothered either.

I'm wondering if Obama or McCain will win the election in November! It's getting seriously close, but I'm backing up Obama. Something different. Not to say anything, but McCain is like, what, 71? Isn't that about time to sit back and goyang kaki and watch your grandkids surpass you in knowledge of the internet?

Found these on the net, thought they were cool:

Not the most polite posts, but I thought they were cute!

Tuesday 26 August 2008

- Juiced out of titles -

Lai Zhu - LoL. Yeah, haha! I found it online. www.very-bored.com

TJ - Tok Janggut, eh? Now there's an excellent nickname.

Pui Yee - LoL, of course I remember you lah. Yeah, there's no chatbox. Somehow, I don't think wordpress has the feature. XD

Saras - What lah you - Faces got change places lah, haha. Good luck for your trials!

Tabby - Your imagination manages to baffle even the cruelest of minds. =P

Shu Wern - If you feel hungry, it's natural! LoL

Vivian - Apalah, of course it's true. =)

Sis - Thank goodness your manners don't rub off on everyone else.

Anyway, this is kind of an odd post. I just want to know if I lent anyone 'Further Under the Duvet' by Marian Keyes. I was feeling bored and wanted to read something light and hearty, when I started panicking because I couldn't find it. Whomever it is, it's entirely my fault for not remembering whom I lent it to, but could you please identify yourself? At least I'd know it's safe somewhere. XD

A little message convo between Carol and myself:

Carol: Your mum can fetch me?

Me: You wait at tanmark. I gona meet you there.

Carol: You gona walk here?

Me: No, I gona fly

Carol: Prepare my breakfast. I dont want funny things

LoL. I actually thought this was a pretty cute convo. =)

Tok Janggut

All right, enough of the laughing. I ran out of titles. XD

Anyway, Carol and I were studying and we went through this part about Tok Janggut - the only hero who supposedly died in his battle for Kelantan. After that, his corpse was hung upside down and paraded all over Kota Bharu as if to warn the people, 'This is what you get if you dare to bloody go against the British'. Then we started thinking about his beard. His long, long beard.

So what happened to the beard when he was hung upside down? Did it cover his face? Or did they have to plaid the it and attach it to something? Or did they chop it off? Or maybe the Kota Bharu-ans decided to keep his beard as a memoir.

Oh crap.

What the - ?

This is what happens when studying get to you.

Oh, and when you get a little sick of a specific someone and his beard.

...

Found this the other day. Thought I'd share it with you guys.

Here's an illusion that got me pretty creeped out.

Take a look at the picture, then stand up and go 7 to 8 steps away from your computer screen. Take another look at the picture. The faces change places.

When I get bored again, bloggers ... Ciao.

The Bee's Knees

The Bee's Knees.

*pause*

*bursts out laughing*

Sorry. Couldn't help myself. Got the phrase from today's newspaper - Mind our English. So we shall all use 'the bee's knees' from now on! Example: That blog that does reviews on both food and authors is the bee's knees. For those of you who don't know, the bee's knees refers to something quite outstanding. At least, I think that's what it means.

Bee's Knees! Hah. As if they even have knees. No bones either. Or even a nice friendly face minus the sting. Or even ... Oh wait, I'm going out of topic.

Denise - ' ... they look like some kind of brown, oozing, gooey goo... ' Thanks, dear. I'm sure we all needed more reassurance about the absolute (lovely ) chocolate thingy.

Sis - Ah. Maybe it's nice, lol. I wouldn't know. When you make it again, let me know. XD

Bernice - 'Crapboon'? Just when I thought this girl couldn't get any more creative. Grr. You very funny ah.

Tabby - Maybe you'll like the other stuff I'm posting today. Hopefully. Haha.

Shu Wern - Thanks, sweetie! You have a blog? If you don't, make one lah! Then you can post food also... =)

Before I post up the pics of the crazy stuff Carol and I made/ate over the past two/three days, I'm going to touch on a little topic here. I was just surfing the net (yes, SPM-ers do that too) out of boredom and I somehow managed got ahold of this page where celebrities were being scrutinized in every single imaginable way. The comments left for the celebrities were pretty awful, and I got the impression that these commentors (majority of them girls) were tearing down the celebrities as though they were pieces of china that simply had to be flawed. If it wasn't their makeup, it was their hair/weight/height/shoes/fashion sense/bags/partners/money.

Welcome to the shallow society we thrive in.

First impressions are important, no doubt, but is there a need to find comfort in someone else's imperfections? Is there a need to watch when a rising star will fall, or when an excellent actor is facing drug problems? You laugh, narrow your eyes and criticize every detail that you perceive to be a flaw - has there ever been a society shallower than we are?

So right now, I challenge you to:

1. Think of a friend and her positive attributes. Skip the criticism.

2. Look for his/her personality when you meet next new person.

We don't want a society that accepts vanity, or arrogance, or selfishness simply because someone else's looks seem to dim one's own. We want a society that revels in the beating of a kind heart, in the faith of a worthy friend, in the humility of a noble man.

Well, that's the thought for today. But do think about it.

Anyway, here are the pics I promised.

Apple roll with ice cream. It was pretty good. Had this with Carol at PSC. =)

Another dish we ordered. Club House stuffed fish.

Found this the other day. Dad used to own a shop at Prima Tanjung, called Cafe-Linux. He had the shop before the whole cyber cafe craze, but well, it wasn't very successful.

LoL. Made this for my sis.

Cooked this at Carol's. It's not as bad as it looks kay. XD... Mixture of cereal, milk powder, nuts, grains and egg white.

Carol cooked this while laughing at what I cooked.

Pinkish-red sunset. =D

Nice scenery? That's what I thought.

Till next time, bloggers.

Restaurant Blog

Since my blog has been dubbed ' The Restaurant ' (initiated by Ferzana, thank you very much), I shall make the fullest of the title to which my blog has been honoured.

Ahem.

*drumroll*

Pictures!

This chocolate thingy is actually from Auntie Annie's. Bought for my dear mum and sis, but mind you, RM3.80 is not worth the taste.

Bought this from Cold Storage. Under RM10! Cooked something out of this, will upload pic later.

Mittens. =)

Sis actually made this pastry thing. No filling. She says it's nice. *pause* So she says.

Pastry on display. XD

The number of Milo bottles we have. And yes, I am as shocked as you are.

Got Baskie tomorrow, so I'm gonna sleep early. And study group after that. Literature was pretty fun today, probably coz I actually read the notes on drama.

Lai Zhu - Hey, sweetie. LoL, any chance you have a blog?

Denise - Trust me, I'm gonna miss you guys more.

TJ - I eagerly await your next piece of work. XD

Bern - You absolute boon.

TJ - It does sound rather funny. Like a mouse chasing its own tail. Random analogy, but you get the point. XD

Tabby - June? Whoa. Waaaaay long time.

Quote of today: Life's a gamble, so take a bet.

Take a leap of faith, bloggers. Spice up your life. Adventure is a road we were all destined to take.

Thursday 14 August 2008

I have concluded that ...

... Saras is adorable. I mean, seriously. And so amazingly sweet. Cool and sweet. How does anyone do that? I'll really miss her and all the Form 3s when I leave. The Form 3s are really cool people (even though they're crazy too), and I really mean like, all of them. Su Sian, Hooi Ping, Vivian, Theresa, Lee Sa, Shu Wern, Farha... The whole gang lah. And Lai Zhu and Li Thyn. Crazy and fun.

Too bad we have bloody SPM this year. Otherwise... *thinks* ... well, no need to get into all that. I'll get over-emotional.

Tabby - Okay, so maybe he did put a lot in the name of acting. I respect your views, even though I still firmly stand by mine. Are you coming to M'sia anytime soon?

TJ - DE? Ahem. Okay. I'm refraining myself from any sarcastic comments. *zips mouth* *throws key*

Saras - OMG. Until what time were you awake? Crazy lah you. I wouldn't stay up even for SPM. LoL

Hooi Ping - What does Fantalicious have to do with your actual name? And you're very polite on your blog. Very. Which is, of course, a good thing. =)

Lai Zhu - LoL, yeah! Drama was fun, wasn't it? Crazy, but fun! And if you read Jodi Piccoult, you have to try her 'Second Glance'. One of the best ever!

Chad - You're absolutely right. Good luck for your SPM too!

Everytime I want to update my blog, I become really lazy. Then I think about squeezing all of my posts into one single blog post - which will then result in an absolutely uncoordinated style of blogging. But who cares, eh?

Anyway, let's see what's new. Ah yes. The magazine is finally nearly going to be printed. Nearly. In which I am no longer involved. Sigh. I really need to get back into my full-time studying mode. Hello? *knocks brain* I have trials in two weeks! And that's practically the real thing.

Gah.

That is just so screwed up.

Things I'm about to do (skip this if you find planning a boring way to live life - I fully agree, btw, but when SPM calls... ):

Add Maths - Practices everyday. At least one long question per day.

Chem - Read experiments. 22 experiments per week. Even though our teacher has actually given us tips, I ain't gonna follow it.

Physics - Learn up CRO! Missed that class altogether.

Bio - The most SCREWED subject.

Sej - Go through chap 8 and 7 again today.

Hm. Wonder what I did at this time of the year when I was in Form 4.

Monday 4 August 2008

The un-fun part turns around

Voila. I never thought I'd ever say this, but ahem - Physics and Chemistry are fun! Looks like the mantra worked, albeit taking some time. However, I really need to put in more effort for Sejarah and Biology. I know, the tables are completely turned.

Saras - It's cute lah, seriously. LoL. Though I'm very lost in the chatbox part, haha. Blurrr-ness.

TJ - Oh, so it's DE TJ eh? Loads more grand, I assure you, though TJ just so much easier to type. And as much as I respect your views, your perspective towards the world of literature is just... sad. Almost sardonic. LoL

Hooi Ping - Booooooon! I always wake up early! Haha. And yes, Second Glance is getting so gripping! OMG, let me know what you think after you're done with it!

Tabby - Granted, he died for his art, but - pardon me for my seeming lack of sensitivity - isn't a good actor supposed to able to detach himself from his own character? Wouldn't an elite actor be able to differentiate reality from fantasy? Hm.

A few authors/writers I like to read:

Mary Shneider ( Star paper column 'But then again' )

Kevin Cowherd ( Star paper column 'Don't get me started' )

Marian Keyes ( author of Further Under the Duvet, etc )

Jodi Piccoult ( author of Second Glance, My Sister's Keeper, etc )

J K Rowling ( need I say more? )

Cathy Kelly ( author of Best of Friends, Lessons in Heartbreak, etc )

Meg Cabot ( author of The Mediator series )

Enid Blyton ( children's author )

The above are amongst the top authors / writers that I both respect and whose works I enjoy (or have enjoyed, for that matter) immensely. Do note that the order of which I have typed their names is no indication whatsoever of the degree to which I like their pieces.

Shneider, Cowherd and Keyes use an element of sarcasm to their benefit, and their works are a lovely way to end any evening. Cathy Kelly writes grown-up fictions, though I cannot deny that I find her plot somewhat repetitive. Meg Cabot is, in my humble opinion, extremely versatile, having written The Princess's Diaries as well as stories that are set in the 1800s.

I have to admit that I need quite some time to adjust to a particular writer's style, and it often depends on my present mood should I rate a novel or article as 'excellent' or simply 'one-star'.

I have read:

Nora Roberts - Blood Brothers, though I didn't find it a life-changing novel.

Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (recommended by Oprah) - it's good, though it's more the self-help type.

Virgin, Vegan and Valentine - by Carolyn Mackler - sarcastic, but slightly... erm... disturbing.

The V Club - Can't remember who wrote this. Read it in F3, I think? Not bad actually.

Naughtiest Girl series - Enid Blyton. Used to love these!

Malory Towers series - Enid Blyton. Used to love these too!

Undead and Unwed - Can't remember who the writer is. A bit narcisstic, though well, it isn't exactly polite.

That's all for today, I think. OMG. I so need to finish Maths.

Saturday 2 August 2008

LoL

I ran out of titles for my blog, and there are just sooo many things to talk about!

Saras - Aww, thanks yeah. I wana put up a chatbox, but I doubt that Wordpress features it, sorry. I love your blog, btw! So cute!

Tabby - XD. And I think you're really getting into the Australian mood - you're saying mate. LoL.

TJ - Hmph. That is sooo not true. Gah.

There are just so many things to talk about! Hm, 3 topics actually.

First of all, today was our farewell! Everyone looked so pretty and different from school, and even though I am extremely tempted to insert pictures onto this blog, I shall refrain from doing so. Because, well, you know, we're not supposed to put our pictures for the whole networking world to see, though I highly doubt that anyone bothers anymore.

Still. Just in case.

I'll post them on friendster. One day. XD

All right, next topic: I have retired from Editorial Board. I'm still helping out, of course, because there's still work to be done, and I should really help Carmen. I'm glad she's my co-editor though - she's pretty responsible.

3rd topic: My dad is great. I know it's awfully strange for a teenager like yours truly to salute her dad and say, 'Thank God I have you as my dad' - but I'm gonna tell you straight-up that it ain't no lie. Pardon me if I'm bragging, but bear with me: Dad is an amazing father, one who teaches me right from wrong, who shows me that there is more to life than black and white, who points to ER and tells me that it's the most realistic medical TV drama ever produced. He wants us (my sis and I) to have the best, he gives us enough freedom to let our creativity take its own shape. He is down-to-earth but watches Fairly Odd Parents and Spongebob Squarepants; he told me the physics behind why the wind blows your front door closed if you leave your opposite back door open (duh); he works hard every day just to grant us a better life.

What more can I possibly want from my dad? He is AMAZING.

Final topic: SPOILERS ALERT! If you haven't watched Batman, stop reading this now! Or if you want to protect your eyes from any discussion on the latest Batman installment, stop reading this now!

I mean it, NOW!

...

If you are reading this, then you must have either :

a) watched the Dark Knight, or

b) haven't watched it and don't bloody care anyway

Come to think of it, you'd BETTER bloody care. Because it's such a good film! But as good as it is, as much as the special effects seem to lift your soul from your body - it is defeated in one area. Good always prevails - this is the moral of any superhero movie out there, the base line on which every plot is built. The problem with this film is, while the message broke through, the Joker is the character that so many people remember after they leave the cinema in a daze. This is wrong - because Batman should be your idol, and to somehow 'respect' the Joker for his cunningness, his defiant spirit, his intelligence, his utter lack of care for the rest of world is simply wrong. Forgive me, but I have principles that I hold true, and idolizing the villain has never been amongst them. And you know what?

I sure hope it isn't amongst yours too.
